Welcome to the May, 2014 edition of the IWP Shift in Consciousness Ezine. I have quite a bit to share in this month’s edition whose theme is the heart as the seat of intelligence and creativity. Part I of my article “Heart and Mind Functioning in Unity and Wholeness,” makes way for guest blogger, Bruce Davis and his heart-filled essay, “An Enlightened World with Heart Intelligence.” In Science & the Sacred is the science and art of creating prosthetics. In Food & Art, we take a look at the confessional art installations of Candy Chang, and an article from the UK’s Telegraph on a growing trend among UK men–knitting. In Housing and Living is one of my newly found passions, the art of upcycling. “80 Pieces of Upcycled Furniture from Trend Hunter,” and a companion article, “Story of Solutions: Better, Not More,” from the UN University. The video suggestion this month is all about the misalignment of the educational system: Sir Ken Robinson: “Do Our Schools Kill Creativity?” This TedX talk is somewhat dated, but Robinson’s perspective is still refreshingly paradigm shifting. And there’s more.

Don’t forget to take a look at our IWP real time bios. I realized when I was creating this edition, that the whole team, me, Laurie Thompson, Accra Zuberi, Jabari Zuberi and Aaron Joseph are all visual artists. No accidents or chance occurrences in the Universe.

I hope that you will find something in this edition that resonates with you, something that inspires you to allow yourself to be the joyful creator that you came into the world to be. And as always your suggestions, comments, questions and concerns are welcomed. In joy! ~ Akilah
