Welcome to the May/June, 2015 edition of the IWP Shift in Consciousness Ezine

Welcome to the May/June, 2015 edition of the IWP Shift in Consciousness Ezine. This edition’s design is broadened to encompass what I see as evidence of our awakening. What you will find here are expressions of an awakened and expanding awareness about a belief system that is no longer sustainable, that is no longer capable of ordering the days of our lives. In the Guest Blog Spot is an article featuring the late John Holt, educator and homeschool advocate. This interview is from Mother Earth News, and was first published in 1980 shortly before Holt’s transition. The homeschooling movement was for many years thought to be comprised of “fundamentalist Christians” and “new age hippies.” Today, the homeschooling movement has expanded and morphed, and is comprised of families of diverse backgrounds, from all over the U.S. and throughout world. After the interview is a link to the Home School Legal Defense Association which offers parents the freedom to homeschool without the legal threats that are often associated with it. HSLDA also provides some statistical information on the number of homeschooling families in the U.S.

In Science and the Sacred is Adebayo C. Akomolafe, co-founder of Koru Conversations, “a global movement of ‘transition collectives’ who realize that another world is possible, and are working – in local groups – to concretize that possibility.” Adebayo was asked to respond to an inquiry from a mother about a diagnosis that she had received concerning her daughter. Like Holt, Adebayo is also an advocate. Along with Charles Eisenstein, he is a “let’s tell a new story” advocate, because the “separation” story is becoming less and less entertaining. Adebayo´s advocacy is reflected in his response. The second article in Science and the Sacred is from The Good Men Project, the conversation no one is having, which features Xiuhtezcatl Roske-Martinez, a 14-year-old Colorado activist. Beautiful!

Housing and Living features Italian architect, Luciano Pia, who creates a vision for green urban living, from Gasan, give a shit about nature. And when it comes to the shift in architecture, the name Michael Reynolds is certain to be mentioned. His vision and his ideas of creating and designing homes that function in alignment with nature is gaining quite a bit of attention. So second in this same section, from White Magic Way, is an informative exploration of bio-architecture.

Finally, in Food & Art, from Afropunk, is JLove Calderon’s new film, From Gangs to Gardens.

Wow! It’s all men in this edition.

I hope that you will enjoy this edition as much as I enjoyed creating it. Don’t forget about the real-time bios, one of my favorite sections, about some of my favorite and deeply appreciated people.

Let’s remember why we are here: not to uphold the status quo, not to toe the line. We’re boat rockers and creators of the new earth. So be it. And so it is.

In joy ~ Akilah
