Welcome to the July/August, 2016 edition of the IWP’s Shift in Consciousness Ezine. Summer is finally here after a warm winter and an unseasonably cool spring. I’m back in the garden, finishing up the landscaping in the back yard. I’ve planted two dwarf apple trees, Honey Crisp and a pollinator, a dwarf peach tree. I’m trying my hand at another blueberry bush, and a blackberry bush that doesn’t appear to have made it through a few days of cold temperatures and rain. The figs started appearing at the beginning of May. We went through a cold spell two weeks into May, and I’m certain that the tree was confused even more. I may have to resort to buying fig paste from Whole Check. We’ll see.
This month I am moving away from the analytical essays that I have been writing for the past few years. I have grown bored with the rhythm of them, and in all honesty, I have ceased to think in that logical, sequential pattern. I was feeling stifled. So in my article Jesuits, 2 Monks, Black Hollyhocks and a Cambodian Wedding you will find a drastic shift in writing style.
In the Guest Blog Spot and doubling for Science & the Sacred is Charles Eisenstein’s article Grief and Carbon Reductionism from Reality Sandwich. Photos shared by Leah Stoller of her Madison, Wisconsin garden, chickens and chicken coop provide the content for Food & Art. Then in Habitat and Living is an article shared by Jain Manish, co-founder of Shikshantar, The People’s Institute for Rethinking Education and Development. It’s all about education and Mexico’s Zapatistas.
