Welcome to the September, 2014 edition of the ezine. I have experienced a whirlwind of a summer and am looking forward to the slower pace of fall and winter. I’ve got a few books to read, including The Game of Thrones, which is an HBO series that has replaced The Sopranos as the most watched series for the cable network. Heavy duty stuff awaits me too, like Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, a classic, noted for igniting the environmental movement. Taking the 30-Day Workplace Challenge that I created for the workplace blog (www.akilahtzuberi.com), assisted me, as I hope it is doing for some disgruntled American workers, in having more time to focus on art. If you can imagine a desire and feel it as if it already exists, there is no way that it cannot manifest!
This month I would like to say a few words about the passing of celebrities in my column, When Celebrities Die. In the Guest Blog Spot is Parker J. Palmer, author, founder and senior partner of The Center for Courage & Renewal. Palmer focuses on issues in education, community, leadership, spirituality and social change. In Science and the Sacred is the documentary, The Sacred Science. I have provided two links: one is the link to the trailer, which is on YouTube, and the other is the full length documentary, roughly 75 minutes, on VIMEO. This documentary takes a look at eight people, all with various dis-eases and disorders, who travel to the Amazon in search of a healing. In Food and Art is “The Sanctity of Food: Conscious Eating as a Spiritual Practice,” from Resilience.org. “Altar Your Space,” altars and sacred spaces, from Pinterest, is the focus in Housing and Living. And don’t forget about real-time bios, one of my favorite parts of the ezine. I go straight to that section when the publication goes live. In joy! ~ Akilah
